dc.description.abstract The environment is adapting to its continually changing landscapes, modified by man to make way for cities and architecture that dominates over the surrounding green spaces that still exist. But over time, the once dominating architecture that exist loses its purpose and is left sitting abandoned, exposed to the elements and untouched by man. These untouched/abandoned buildings sit unmaintained by those passing by. However, this does not signify the end of what was, but rather signifies the next cycle of life. The environment starts to grow, breaking down and breaking through the existing architecture, and eventually becoming the dominant feature on the site once again. By examining the changes a site goes through when abandoned, this thesis will explore design possibilities that adapt to the changing environment and allow for nature to grow in harmony with architecture. en_US
