Sepsis is the leading cause of death worldwide. The best practice treatment for sepsis is the SEP-1 bundle. Unfortunately, less than 50% of hospitals complete the SEP-1bundle despite many tools and resources available. This program evaluation evaluated if the addition of a nurse driven sepsis protocol utilizing a paper SEP-1 bundle documentation tool would (1) increase SEP-1 compliance, (2) reduce sepsis mortality and hospital length of stay (LOS), (3) increase nursing satisfaction (4) increase provider satisfaction, and (5) be cost effective. |
