This document focuses on carrying Beirut from the after the blast effect into a full functional better than before state, which can be done by working on many fields , one of those fields is architecture and design. It identifies the architectural tricks, manners, schools that can be used as a platform to promote the urban functionality . The study goes beyond the findings related to pragmatic issues , such as beautiful architectural compositions (built and void), but seeks to comprehensively address the social and behavioral and economical needs of the city. in the first place, architectural elements and design factors are combined to create an optimal composition, achieving by that an effective environment that comprehensively address the needs of a capital and that of the wider circle (governorate) . as a result we will get a development design that promote care for whole country . however this development won’t be worthy if its architecture was not meaningful to its occupants. This thesis draws upon theories related to urban functionality, social integration and meaningful architecture. It explores the two facets of a city (physical/social), presenting various needs and issues related to the city. Pertinent precedent studies that present a modern and up to date approach to addressing the needs of a capital are used to exhibit the manner for which the application of theory has been implemented in the built environment. Relatable case studies are discussed and evaluated on the architectural level.
