dc.description.abstract This thesis seeks to explore and project alternative mediums to an end product with new techniques, technology, and tools that are altering current modes and methods within the design process. Digital technology does not replace any existing design methodology, strategy, or technique. The introduction of new ideas develops new approaches in combination with the traditional ways of working. Contemporary media and speculative technologies in combination with architectural process also influence research and production within design. Designers have new tools stemming from digital roots and developing into a hybrid process. The natural and synthetic approaches develop new typologies that can be built further upon. An exhibition, Sturm der Ruhe, presented by Architekturzentrum Wien, asks the simple question of what is architecture? All answers are pertinent and could be considered the methods of development; there are multiple ways of working. Finding Context explores speculative mediums to an end product. en_US
