dc.description.abstract In a post-industrial society there are many social issues plaguing urban dwelling Americans. There is an abundance of unemployed land in cites. Without program these spaces are not seen as assets to their communities. These marginalized spaces are assumed to reflect a surrounding community of similarly marginalized people. This thesis explores the un-tapped potential found in these underutilized vacant spaces as a conduit for contemporary recreation and community involvement. en_US
