Abstract:
With the investigation of the tectonics of materials, primarily concrete and wood, this thesis begins to question and challenge the conventional uses and assemblies of these relatively common materials. The thesis begins to focus on the act of making, such as a cast of concrete or a carved piece of wood, and how such actions consistently playa role in the fonn and function of an environment. There is an opportunity to have a greater connection to the spatial awareness between the users of a space and the built environment. The methodology behind this thesis is reflective to the human scale and the human factor used to create a spacial condition.
