dc.description.abstract If you think about it, we may never understand a space by the intentions to which it is initially designed. We can read about what we are supposed to feel, or not feel. We can assume where we are supposed to look. And we can guess based on our culture. But we are all different so our experiences are different. We all have our own thoughts and our own apprehensions. And knowing this is an understanding of how space can be looked at with the mind and body. This comes from realization of perspective and perception; that spatial understanding can be brought down from abstract ideas to more connected thought processes. By looking back to history and the basics of design, space takes on a more simple complexity. This thesis looks to understanding space through many media and through the process of where one exploration leads to next. en_US
